The Palestinian military intelligence service arrested freelance journalist Mustafa Sabri from his home in Qalqilya, in the northern West Bank, on Wednesday morning, the Palestinian Centre for Development and Media Freedoms (MADA) has reported.
His wife said that military intelligence personnel arrived at their home at 1:00 a.m. (local time) and took her husband to an unknown location.
Sabri had just been freed on July 25 from the preventive security prison where he was being held since his earlier arrest on April 21. The Supreme Court had issued an order for his release on June 15. Sabri has been arrested and interrogated on many other occasions over the past three years without being charged.
MADA considers Sabri's arrest to be a gross violation of freedom of expression and contrary to the Supreme Court's decision. MADA demanded that Sabri and all journalists imprisoned by security forces in the West Bank (Iyad Srour, Younis Hsasneh, Qays Abu Samra, and Murad Abu-Baha) and the Gaza Strip (Seri al-Qidwa) be released.
