A day before the case of a local journalist allegedly blackmailing a Congress leader in a sex scandal incident comes up for hearing in a local court, the scribe today claimed that he has captured in his camera at least 51 court officials taking bribe, the Indian Express has reported.
Amrik Singh alias Prince, a local journalist, showed nine such clippings at a press conference on Sunday. Singh said, “In total, there are 51 people of various courts of Punjab whom I have captured in my camera accepting bribe for providing legal documents to me. Today I showed nine clippings, all of the courts in Ludhiana. The staff belongs to different offices, some are employed in certain courts while others are working for the copy branch.”
“These have been recorded over a period of five months and during the process of my own trial,” Singh said. Singh faces charges of blackmailing Congress leader and former mayor Nahar Singh Gill. The case dates back to 2006 when Gill alleged that Singh had been blackmailing him claiming he had a CD in his possession in which Gill and other senior leaders were shown in compromising position with a woman. The case comes up for hearing on Monday.
The said woman recently filed a petition in the Punjab and Haryana High Court seeking action against four police officers, a local journalist and a Ludhiana businessman who she claimed were sexually exploiting her.
Singh said, “I have it on the camera how these people would make me wait for hours and days for a legal document. The moment I offered them money, the work was done in minutes.” He has filed a writ petition in the Punjab and Haryana High Court and was recently summoned by the sessions judge.
