Magazine, news channels to be launched soon

Triveni Media Ltd (TML), a fully owned subsidiary of real estate and infrastructure group Triveni Infrastructure Development Co Ltd, is set to launch a bouquet of news and lifestyle channels this year, and MJP Media Pvt Ltd, a company promoted by journalist MJ Akbar, will soon launch Covert, a magazine on Indian politics, says a Mint report.

Some elementary details:

TML will launch a 24-hour Hindi national news channel by the end of May or June. The channel will be called Voice of India, said chief executive Rahul Kulshreshtha. It will be followed by the launch of a 24-hour news channel in Bengali and a luxury and lifestyle channel.

Ram Kripal Singh, a former editor of the Navbharat Times, will be the group editor at TML. Alok Verma, a former Aaj Tak journalist, is managing editor and Ravi Shankar, formerly editor of Today, the tabloid from the India Today Group, will head the luxury channel.

Separately, veteran journalist and author Akbar, who recently parted ways with Deccan Chronicle Holdings Ltd, will launch Covert, a fortnightly magazine focused on politics, on 15 May. The magazine will be priced at Rs20. Journalist Seema Mustafa is the editor of the magazine.
