Network18 launches Marathi channel IBN Lokmat

Network 18 and Marathi newspaper Lokmat have launched a regional news channel, says a CNN-IBN report.

Speaking about the new venture CNN-IBN’s Editor-in-Chief Rajdeep Sardesai said, “Our aim with IBN Lokmat was to build truly a world class regional channel that will fulfill the aspirations of the people of Maharashtra but more importantly will become a sort of bridge builder between the national media and the regional media. ”

IBN Lokmat is the culmination of a joint venture partnership between the biggest media house in India; Network 18 and the czars of Marathi news print, the Lokmat Group and you truly have a regional channel with an international feel.

IBN Lokmat’s Editor-in-Chief Nikhil Wagle said, “The channel's language is Marathi. But its outlook will be international. We'll speak in Marathi but our competition will the best national and international media in the world."
