An officer of a private telecom company on Monday failed to produce call details of the husband of slain journalist Shivani Bhatnagar before a court trying the murder case involving suspended IPS officer RK Sharma, the Times of India has reported.
Some details:
Gulshan Kumar Arora, witness produced by Sharma to defend himself, said that the records are maintained upto a particular period of time by the company after which they get automatically deleted.
During his testimony before Additional Sessions Judge Rajender Kumar Shastri, the authorised Hutch (now Vodafone) officer on Monday pleaded his inability to place on record the call details of Rakesh Bhatnagar during the period 1999-2000.
The defence, dissatisfied with his reply, moved an application thereafter stating as Arora did not have a letter of authentication, a senior officer should be summoned to apprise the court of the availability of the call records.
The court has posted the matter for July 25 to decide the application of the defence.
It had on July 18 issued bailable warrant against Arora after taking note of his non-appearance before it despite being summoned at the defence plea to examine him.
