In the print category the award was given to Smita Agarwal from Symbiosis Institute of Mass Communication, Pune who has also won an internship with Hindustan Times, Mumbai for a month..The CNN Citizen Journalist Award was bestowed upon Ajit Jayakar of Mumbai for his visuals of the 7/11 Mumbai blasts. He was won a trophy with cash prize of Rs.20,000.The eligibility criteria for participating in the CNN YJA is to have a minimum work experience in journalism for a year and the age of the incumbent should be between 22-28 years.
