IRNA, PTI Ink MOU

Islamic Republic News Agency Managing Director Jalal Fayyazi and Indian PTI News Agency Deputy Managing Director M.K. Razdan inked a memorandum of understanding (MOU) here on Saturday.

According to the 11-article MOU, IRNA and PTI agreed to exchange national and international news items free of charge, IRNA reported.

In the cooperation agreement, the two sides also agreed to supply their subscribers with English news through Internet for free.

According to the MOU, IRNA and PTI have been allowed to use up to 30 news items in their news services per day.

After signing the cooperation agreement, Fayyazi discussed the activities of IRNA in national and international levels and said according to the statistics some 150 million people visit IRNA's website each month.

He referred to the special status of IRNA within international news media as well as the importance of Iran in the region as the main causes for the big number of visitors to IRNA site.

PTI executive director and deputy in news affairs referred to IRNA as the prominent Iranian news representative in the news world.

He stated that PTI was keen to develop bilateral ties and cooperation with IRNA news agency.
