Wall Street Journal Ties with The Times for Online Content Deal

The Wall Street Journal has unveiled partnerships with major European and Asian newspapers that will see their content featured on WSJ.com.

The move coincides with the European and Asian edition of the paper's relaunch in a compact format today.

The innovation is the latest drive by the paper's owner, Dow Jones & Company, for greater integration between print and online editions.

The new "Across Europe" section, appearing on the European home page of WSJ.com, will feature headlines from Le Figaro (France), DIE WELT (Germany), Milano Finanza (Italy), Handelszeitung (Switzerland) and The Times (UK).

The "Across Asia" page will display headlines from five leading newspapers in Asia.

Readers will be able to click through one selected headline from each paper through to the individual websites.

The section will also include a search function to access coverage of the area from Dow Jones Newswires and The Wall Street Journal.

"We're very pleased to be partnering with these prestigious publications around the world and to be able to offer their take on some of the key business stories of the day," said Bill Grueskin, managing editor of The Wall Street Journal Online.

The new look print edition will feature pointers directing readers to the website, which has also seen improvements to navigation and enhanced features, while subscribers will benefit from original stories and exclusive multimedia content.

Paying readers can also gain access to WSJ.com news via BlackBerry and similar mobile devices, while free content will be available via RSS feeds.
