The Guardian has launched a new gateway to its journalism and visualisations. The announcement on its website said, "Data journalism has become an increasingly big part of our work here at the Guardian - from Wikileaks to government spending, it's our job to make the key data accessible and easy to understand."

The site http://www.guardian.cok.uk/data/ includes: The key data of the day - broken down; a pick of the data blogosphere - which sites have the key posts?; Search the world's government data - and global development data; What have you done with our data? Featured apps. The site says that new features and changes will be added over the next months.

The newspaper invoked Tim Berners-Lee said recently: "[Journalism is] going to be about poring over data and equipping yourself with the tools to analyse it and picking out what's interesting. And keeping it in perspective, helping people out by really seeing where it all fits together, and what's going on in the country."
