Nepal: Journalist Bohara set free from captivity

Pyuthan based radio journalist Keshav Bohara was released Thursday night, according to nepalnews.com. This followed sustained pressure from organisations like the Federation of Nepalese Journalists (FNJ) and National Human Rights Commission (NHRC).

Bohara, who is a radio journalist associated with Radio Mandavi of Pyuthan, contacted a police post at Gorusingay of Kapilvastu district at around 10: 30 pm when his abductors freed and left him on the road.

Upon hearing the report of his release, a FNJ mission headed by Prem KC rushed to Kapilvastu Thursday night itself to bring the captive journo to his residence in Pyuthan.

Though details regarding his abduction have not been furnished, journalist Bohara has been reported to have sustained minor injuries on his body.

He was abducted Wednesday from Devisthan of Pyuthan by an unidentified group of three persons including a woman, Kantipur quoted Bohara as saying. According to Bohara, he was abducted following his extensive radio reports centred over land belonging to Swargadari Temple captured by the Unified CPN (Maoist).
