Identified as Brijesh Gupta, a resident of Babupurwa, his body was found inside his car outside a guest house. There were serious injury marks on the body which was wrapped in a bed-sheet. A revolver was also recovered from the car though no bullet injury was evident on the body.
Meanwhile, acting on a tip-off that family of one of his lady colleagues was involved in the case, the police raided her house and found some blood stains there. They arrested one Surjeet Singh, a friend of the girl's brothers, who was also allegedly involved in the murder.
"During interrogation, Surjeet claimed that Brijesh had been harassing the girl and her family. On late Saturday evening, when Brijesh had come to drop her home, her brothers Sunny and Munny had an argument with him. In a fit of rage, they dragged him inside the house, attacked him with a hammer and screw-driver. His body was then dumped outside the guest house. The girl and her family are absconding, but we will soon arrest them," said DIG Hari Ram Sharma.
Police also said the victim and the girl were lovers but their relationship had turned sour. The police have recovered blood-stained clothes of the assailants from a nearby canal in Dadanagar, which would be sent to the forensic laboratory for further tests.
