The police commissioner of Aruangabad, KL Bishnoi, on Thursday suspended a head constable for threatening to kill a press photographer, says a Press Trust of India (PTI) report.
The report against constable Pradeep Dhote and Sudhakar Rathod of MIDC Waluj poilce station and Vishnu Jagdale and Babasaheb Kakade of Cantonment police station will be submitted on Friday. The policemen reportedly assaulted lensman Hasan Jamadar and reporter Appasaheb Vanjari on August 4.
City scribes took the matter to Maharashtra Home Minister RR Patil who directed to inquire into the matter and submit the report till August 20.
After this date scribes gave a memorandum to the Divisional Commisioner, Dilip Bund, as neither the report was submitted nor any action was taken against the accused policeman.
Meanwhile, a photographer named Farooq, who took the photographs of this incident was on Tuesday threatened by Kakade of dire consequences. Bishnoi said, "This was violation of code of conduct to threaten a scribe while the inquiry is yet going on". He said Kakade was found guilty of threatening and hence he was suspended.
The inquiry committee headed by DCP SM Waghmare will be submitting the report of the inquiry on Friday. After that the mode of action to be taken against other accused policemen will be decided.
