The Wageboard for Journalists and Non-Journalists will submit its report on interim relief to the union government within a month, Board Chairman Justice K Narayana Kurup said on Tuesday, according to a Press Trust of India (PTI) report. This assurance was given by Justice Kurup to a delegation of Kerala Union of Working Journalists (KUWJ) and Kerala Newspaper Employees Federation (KNEF) at a sitting held here.
Kurup said a full board meeting will be immediately convened in Delhi which will consider memoranda submitted by various organisations of journalists and non journalists and newspaper managements, KUWJ said in a press release here. After examining the memoranda in detail, the full board meeting will finalise the report on interim wages in the newspaper industry and submit it to the government, Kurup told the delegation.
The Board was also examining the possibility of bringing journalists and non-journalists of the visual media under the wageboard's purview, he said. In an effort to make the Board's functioning more transparent, a website will be launched at a function at New Delhi on April one.
