AFP ties up with ad-supported video syndication network

Agence France-Presse (AFP) will syndicate its video service, AFPTV, to thousands of vertical websites. This follows a partnership deal with ClipSyndicate, a next-generation ad-supported video syndication network. ClipSyndicate’s website publishers search and publish fully licensed, authoritative video clips from respected providers, and receive a portion of advertising revenue.

AFPTV, a major player in the French market established in 2001, produces video news for television, the Internet and mobile phone service. AFPTV embarked on a global expansion programme in 2006. Its international network now delivers a variety of news and feature packages daily to subscribers worldwide.

AFP will provide ClipSyndicate’s network of website editors and bloggers rich video content culled from AFPTV’s network of 40 journalists in 20 production units around the world with the support of AFP’s global network of 2,200 journalists and photographers in 165 countries.

“Agence France-Presse has been delivering in-depth, original analysis of the world’s events since 1835, putting exceptional emphasis on exclusive angles, in-depth, original analysis and storytelling features,” said Sean Morgan, founder and CEO of ClipSyndicate. “We are extremely pleased to add Agence France-Presse as a content partner, and offer this very rich global content to our web publishers who are looking for unique perspectives of the world’s news.”

Content to be syndicated includes:

  • Daily video news reports: edited and voiced reports with in-depth coverage of selected headline news and news related stories
  • Newsmagazines and lifestyle features: edited and voiced reports presenting compelling human interest stories in the realms of politics, social issues, lifestyle, culture and entertainment
  • Exclusive interviews: interviews of major world leaders, newsmakers and celebrities.

“AFP launched its English language video earlier this year and has had a tremendous response in the market,” said Gilles Tarot, Marketing & Sales Director for AFP North America. “With ClipSyndicate’s video syndication network, we are able to find new audiences through sites we wouldn’t reach otherwise, through a frictionless, rights-managed, rev-share syndication platform. We are very excited to be partnering with ClipSyndicate.”
