Applications invited for 'social and environmental responsibility' world journalism prize

Applications are being invited for the Social and Environmental Responsibility world journalism prize set up to reward the best articles on social and environmental responsibility published around the world. Every year three prizes will be awarded by the Social and Environmental Responsibility World Forum in partnership with the World Editors Forum:

  • A prize dedicated to a specific topic chosen each year by the World Forum for its International Meeting in October,
  • A prize specifically dedicated to the press in developing countries,
  • A non specialist Social and Environmental Responsibility Prize (open to all articles on any subject linked to Social and environmental Responsibility)

The topic for 2007 is 'Diversity and equal opportunities'.

The jury comprises representatives from the World Editors Forum and from the Social and Environmental Responsibility World Forum. Articles published between August 1, 2006 and July 31, 2007 can be submitted for the competition.

Last date: August 25, 2007.

All articles must be sent with information on :

- their author (name, date and place of birth, address, nationality) ;

- the newspaper (or newspapers) they were published in (title, country/area of circulation, circulation).

The results will be announced on September 24, 2007.

The winners will be immediately and personally informed. They will receive a five-day (four nights) trip to France and 1000 euros.

They will also have to attend the International Meeting on diversity and equal opportunity from October 23-25, 2007 in Lille during which their prizes will be handed to them (if a winner stepped down and could not come to Lille, the prize for that category would be awarded to the competitor ranked next).
