THE Commonwealth Press Union (CPU) is keeping international groups informed of the situation in Fiji following the detention and deportation of New Zealand journalist Michael Field.
CPU secretary of the Media Freedom Committee, Lincoln Gould, said the body was keeping international groups such as the World Association of Newspapers in Paris and the CPU's British counterpart informed.
''Just in case there's any opportunity to help with international pressure,'' Mr Gould told the New Zealand Herald.
Field was detained on arrival at Nadi last night, to cover developments on the expulsion of NZ's High Commissioner to Fiji, Michael Green.
He was deported this morning.
