South Korea: Lawmaker fined for sexually harassing female journalist

SEOUL, June 14 (Yonhap) -- An appellate court fined a local lawmaker Thursday for sexually harassing a woman reporter last year, overturning a lower court ruling that convicted him and delivered a suspended six-month imprisonment.

The Seoul High Court fined Rep. Choi Yeon-hee, former secretary general of the main opposition Grand National Party (GNP), five million won (US$5,300), suspending the announcement of a sentence, which in effect means a verdict of not guilty in the South Korean legal system.
