The international criminal tribunal for the former Yugoslavia in the Hague has dismissed the appeal of a Croatian journalist and found him guilty of contempt for revealing closed transcripts and part of a witness statement.
The former editor-in-chief of Croatian daily Slobodna Dalmacija, Josip Jovic, has been ordered to pay a fine of €20,000 (£13,720) within the next 30 days, news agency Hina reported.
Mr Jovic published a series of articles in 2000 with transcripts from the trial of a Bosnian Croat, Tihomir Blaskic. By printing the transcripts, the tribunal said he "stymied the tribunal's ability to safeguard the evidence of a protected witness".
In August last year, officials at Slobodna Dalmacija - where Mr Jovic is still an employee - revealed the company would pay his fine if he was found guilty.
