Chandigarh, January 27: Chandigarh-Punjab Union of Journalists (CPUJ) has sought an apology from Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh for the incident related to the dismissal of a reporter from the vernacular press at the alleged behest of his media adviser B I S Chahal on Friday.
The members of CPUJ, during their executive meeting held here today, have decided to protest by wearing black badges throughout the state if the CM failed to apologise for the incident. The meeting also decided to hold protest rallies.
The president of CPUJ Vinod Kohli has condemned the alleged role played by B I S Chahal, the Media Adviser to Chief Minister Amarinder Singh, in the dismissal of a Ludhiana based reporter.
In a press statement issued today, Kohli alleged that Jagdip Singh, reporter of Rozana Spokesman was given dismissal orders on telephone during the press conference of Punjab Chief Minister after the reporter asked some question which irritated the Media Adviser.
Kohli said that the Chief Minister himself should apologies for the incident as the Chahal’s apology alone was not enough.
