IRNA chief: Media war against Lebanon directed by US

Managing Director of the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) Ahmad Khademolmelleh here Wednesday said that besides fighting in the military front, Lebanon was involved in a media war directed by the US.

He made the remark at the inaugural ceremony of a photo exhibition, called 'Lebanon, Epic of Victory' at the School of Media Studies, which was attended by Lebanese Ambassador to Tehran Adnan Hassan Mansour and representatives of Amal and Hizbollah movements.

Khademolmelleh urged IRNA, School of Media Studies and Iran Cultural and Press Institute to conduct research on various dimensions of the media war launched by the US and some Western media against Lebanon concurrent with Israel's attack on the Lebanese territory to brief all countries subject to hegemony.

"The soft war which has been launched against the Lebanese people by the US, Britain and Israel should be analyzed. They should be confronted in the same way."

He said that the media potential of the world of Islam and Arabs should be identified, given that they have good expertise.

"The media link in the world of Islam and among Arab Ummah should be strengthened to be prepared for media confrontation. However, given the high expertise of the US in the sector, it is impossible to confront it individually," he added.

Stating that the world free media should let the world hear the voice of the Lebanese people, he said that during the Zionist regime's war against Lebanon, the voice of Lebanon's people was heard through the world's vigilant media, in particular those of Iran.

"Thus the world community realized what a crime was committed against Lebanon by Israel," he added.

IRNA chief underlined that Israel and its protectors were defeated in the military front and the media war in Lebanon.

At the ceremony, Khademolmelleh appreciated the efforts of all Iranian reporters, photographers and artists for supporting the Lebanese people.

He declared the solidarity of Iranian journalists and

photographers with the people of Lebanon and declared his readiness to provide full media facilities for reconstruction of Lebanon.

Some 400 photos on show were taken by IRNA Photographer Ali-Reza Alimadadi, who was dispatched to Lebanon, as well as IRNA branch offices. The pictures show 33 days of the Lebanese people's resistance and their victory over the Zionist regime.

The event will be open to the public for ten days. It was jointly arranged by IRNA, School of Media Studies, Iran Cultural and Press Institute and Iran's Photo House.
