New Delhi, May 19: The government has appointed a committee to go into the demands for revival of abolished distinguished Journalist Category for Parliament passes.
"In 1996, distinguished category of journalist was abolished. There is a strong demand to restore it. I have appointed a committee to go into this demand," Parliamentary Affairs Minister P R Dasmunsi told reporters.
He said after the report comes, "we will see what we can do in this regard".
On the demand by a number of journalists and related organisations on extending the time limit for their accommodation, the Minister said he would discuss the matter with the Urban Development Minister and see what could be done.
Apparently unhappy over the presence of "unwanted liaison persons" in the Central Hall of Parliament, the Parliamentary Affairs Minister said he would like to discuss the access issue with the Lok Sabha Speaker.
