Criminals on Boring Canal Road in Patna, on Thursday afternoon, attacked and seriously injured India Today's Patna-based chief correspondent Sanjay Kumar Jha. He was rushed to a private nursing home with severe back injury, the police said.
The incident took place near Lalita Hotel and Sachdeva Coaching Institute on Boring Canal Road at around 3:00 pm. Interestingly, the manager of the Sachdeva Coaching Institute, Jitendra, was one of the attackers.
After brutally beating up the scribe, the criminals robbed him of his belongings and left the scene. Jha somehow managed to call his office seeking help.
Angered by the incident, a number of representatives from various media associations met with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and demanded immediate action against the perpetrators.
Kumar ordered the removal of Kotwali police station in-charge and arrest of Jha's attackers without delay.
The police has arrested the coaching institute manager and another person who was identified as Raj Kumar.
The two are being interrogated to determine the motive behind the attack.
