AMWJU fellowship for rural reporting

IMPHAL, Mar 22: All Manipur Working Journalists` Union invites application from print and electronic journalist from Manipur for award of AMWJU Media Fellowship - 2006 on the theme Rural Development reporting in the state.

Altogether four fellowships are to be awarded, three for print journalists and one for electronic journalist. However, the amount of the fellowships for both print and electronic journalists are Rs 5000 each only and the fellowships are open for AMWJU members only.

Based on their investigative work, the selected fellow must produce at least five features stories of 1000 words each to be published in quality publications between May 2006 and March 2007. Electronic journalists should produce at least two 25 minutes long TV features within the same time frame.

Apart from that each of the selected fellow will have to make a report in about 5000 words, which may be edited and included in a book to be published later by the AMWJU. Television journalist may submit written script for inclusion.

Applications for the fellowships should be submitted not later than April 20, 2006 alongwith curriculum vitae, five samples of published/broadcast work on the issue, a draft proposal for the fellowship, a brief personal statement on why they consider themselves as suitable candidates, written assurance from concerned editors consenting publication of stories done during fellowship period and two references from persons who have known the applicant professionally for at least one year.

In the meantime, the Panos Institute South Asia also invites applications from print, radio and television journalists from Northeast India to apply for a fellowship to research conflict related issues in the region.

The numbers of fellowships to be awarded is five - three for print and one each for radio and television journalist and fellowship amounts are respectively Rs 50,000 for print and radio journalist and Rs 1 lakh for television journalist.

Applications alongwith curriculum vitae and other necessary documents should be submit to programme manager, Panos Institute South Asia, 110 Kharguli Road, Guwahati - 871004, Assam or to the e-mail guwahati@panossouthasia.org. All applications must be submitted not later than April 15, 2006.
