The Guwahati Press Club (GPC) is inviting applications from working journalists of Northeast India for the 2nd GNRC Media Fellowship. The fellowship programme was launched last year when three journalists were selected. The number of fellowships has been increased to four this year. The fellows, selected for the three-month-long programme, will receive a stipend of Rs 10,000 per month each.
A release issued by GPC said that the 1st GNRC fellows – Manoram Gogoi of Asmomiya Pratidin, Sailen Barua of Amar Asom and Shushil Sharma of Aji – will be awarded citations at a function in the city in the first half of March. A senior development journalist from a SAARC country is tentatively slated to attend the function.
The applications for the 2nd GNRC Media Fellowship should include a brief CV with a passport size photograph of the journalist, three recent published articles, and a write-up entailing why he/she wants to join the fellowship in about 500 words. Complete applications must reach the Secretary, Guwahati Press Club, Guwahati-781001, Assam by February 28, 2006 next. The winners will be announced in the first week of March.
