SINGAPORE, Feb. 8 (Xinhuanet) -- Several Islamic organizations in Singapore have expressed their opposition to any form of violence by Muslims in the recent cartoon conflict, according to Channel News Asia report on Wednesday night.
They were quoted as saying that being overly sensitive and responding irrationally would only intensify the negative image others hold toward Islam.
They called for Muslims to direct their frustrations and anger toward deepening their knowledge and love for the Prophet Mohammad.
The publication of 12 caricatures and cartoons depicting the Prophet in a Danish daily last September, as well as their reprint in several other European papers, has sparked an uproar in the Islamic world.
Singapore Islamic organizations said that the publication shows a lack of sensitivity toward other cultures and demeans Islam.
