The Editor-In-Chief of the Parrot Newspaper, Alfred Kaine narrowly escaped death when he was attacked and brutalized by four thugs last Saturday night on 11th Street in Sinkor in the area adjacent the Sarafina Communications Building.
According to the Parrot Editor-In-Chief, his attackers, who were on board a Toyota Pathfinder four wheel drive vehicle, trailed him from the Capital Bye Pass through Jallah's Town to the Sinkor area. The pathfinder alighted a short distance away from his car in Saye Town when he stopped to buy snacks, but he did not immediately notice that the men in the vehicle were after him. He said the thugs resumed their trail with terrific speed and passed by his car when he got in and was heading towards 11th Street. He explained that the pathfinder overtook his car on 11th Street thereby blocking him from moving.
At that point, Kaine lamented that four huge men disembarked from the vehicle. Three of them, including one that bore the appearance of a well-fed body builder, attacked him, while the fourth man proceeded to deflate the tires of his car.
"Where is your man?" one of the men asked.
"Which man?" Kaine inquired.
"He is one of the main men writing against our party's interest," another well built attacker interjected, giving the most heavily smilt assailant the implicit last order for the beating to start.
Instantaneously, he dashed at the Parrot's Editor-In-Chief, going straight for his neck, the release disclosed. The chocking grips of the assailant tightened on Kaine for over fifteen seconds, preventing him from breathing.
There was no way for him to scream. Just as he was about to pass off, another assailant raked him down. As he fell on the ground, his neck slipped out of the grips of the fierce body builder who appeared determined to choke the journalist to death.
Regaining his breath, Kaine screamed for help. A lone passer-by, a tall gentleman in his mid twenties, rushed on the scene as Kaine struggled to rise to his feet, head in the night for his car, the tires of which had already been deflated, the release further narrated.
As many more people rushed on the scene, the assailants hurriedly boarded their gray pathfinder in the direction of Tubman Boulevard towards 12th Street and beyond. The vehicle of the thugs could not be identified.
