Ukrainian journalists arrested in Moscow airport

A group of Ukrainian journalists, members of the Ukrainian delegation that arrived in Moscow to take part in a roundtable, have been arrested in "Sheremetievo" airport in Moscow.

UNIAN was told about it by telephone by member of the Ukrainian delegation Serhiy Taran, director of the International Institute of Democracies.

S.Taran said that among the arrested journalist there are camera groups of TV-channels 5 Kanal, STB, and Novy Kanal. Russian special services explain the arrest of the journalists with the necessity to register their Volodymyr-cameras, which are considered a "special equipment" in Russia. The Ukrainian side was not prevented about this in advance.

S.Taran is convinced that "this is an unfriendly act of the Russian authorities, which do not want to improve relations".

The roundtable "New Concept of Ukrainian-Russian Relations: Kyiv and Moscow in Focus of Gas Problem" is organized by the "United Civil Front", headed by Garri Kasparov, from the Russian side, and by "Pora" Civil Party and the International Institute of Democracies, from the Ukrainian side.
