Asian and Pacific journalists now have until October 26 to apply for a fellowship program that would send them to learn and travel with U.S. colleagues in Hawaii, India and Pakistan.
The next Jefferson Fellowships are scheduled for February 5 to 26, organized by the Honolulu-based East-West Center. The program brings journalists from Asia, the Pacific and the U.S. together to learn about issues important to their regions.
The theme of the winter 2006 fellowships is "South Asia Shining," highlighting how that region is having a greater international impact. Fellows will first meet in Honolulu, delivering presentations to each other on how South Asia is affecting their home regions. Then the journalists will move on for visits to major cities in India and Pakistan.
Application packets should include the completed form, employer’s letter of support, a letter of interest that also proposes a presentation topic, and references. Full application forms and details are available at http://tinyurl.com/9v536.
