Journalism education in the Digital Age: A Survey

The arrival of the Digital Revolution has fundamentally shifted the practice of journalism -- creating new forms of competition, introducing new reporting tools and changing the distribution of news. The question arises: How are journalism educators responding to this challenge of a changing information environment?

To find out, a team of journalists and educational researchers is conducting a survey of journalism and communications educators around the world. We are writing to ask you to take our survey and to forward the survey URL to as many of your colleagues and listservs as possible. Those who complete the survey will have the chance to receive either an iPod or an Creative Zen Micro MP3 player.

The survey takes about 20+ minutes to complete, and you have the

option of stopping and restarting the survey at your convenience. We

hope you will help us and share this information with any journalism

or mass communications colleagues around the globe. Because we seek a broad, multi-lingual and multi-cultural perspective on this issue, the questionnaire currently is available in English and Spanish. Arabic and Portugese versions will be ready soon. (We are seeking a co-investigator to translate the survey into other languages, especially French. If interested, contact J. T. Johnson.)

We hope to complete the survey by late October 2005, and the data and analysis will be available at http://www.analyticjournalism.com.

Thank you for your cooperation and, again, please forward this message

to all potential respondents.
