CBA broadcasting awards 2006

Applications are invited for the annual CBA awards for Television and Radio programmes. Applications can be team or individual entries except for the Journalist of the Year and Elizabeth R Awards and all programmes or projects should have been shown or completed between January and October 2005. Completed forms should be received at the CBA Secretariat by October 15, 2005.

Details should be clearly wordprocessed in entry forms, and 4 copies of each form should be sent to the CBA Secretariat, with 4 copies of DVD (PAL) multiregion or 3 copies of VHS (PAL) tapes and 1 DVD for television programmes and 4 copies of CDs for radio programmes. Each tape, DVD and CD should have one entry only.

For the Elizabeth R Award 4 copies of the nomination should be sent to the CBA Secretariat by October 15, 2005 as well as one electronic copy to award@cba.org.uk

  • Programme entries may be in any language, but they should be clearly subtitled in English and a separate briefing note in English should be sent with the entries explaining the theme and concept of the programme, how it was made and its impact.
  • There is no entry fee for CBA members or CBA affiliates, but there is a fee of E 60 per entry for non-members.
  • The CBA Secretariat will take due care of the entries but will not be liable for any loss or damage.
  • If the jury considers that none of the entries in any one of the competitions is worthy of an award, the jury may decide not to award that prize in the year concerned.

As part of the awards package for the Award for Programme on Development Issues the World Bank is offering global distribution of short versions of the winning programmes on UNIFEED and NewsMarket. (Unifeed is a global satellite feed that distributes footage on development stories to over 400 Associated Press clients, at no charge. NewsMarket is the web-based video platform that is used to post audio and visual material for broadcasters to download free of charge to use in their stories on development.) Global distribution will be subject to understanding on rights.

  3. CBA-Amnesty International Award for Human Rights Programme
  4. CBA-World Bank Award for Programme on Development Issues
  5. CBA-IBC Award for Innovation in Engineering
  6. CBA-Thomson Foundation Journalist of the Year Award
  7. Elizabeth R Award for Exceptional Contribution to Public Service Broadcasting.
