Canadian NGO to provide international media trainers

A new NGO plans to provide its experienced journalism trainers to projects in emerging democracies around the world.

Based in Canada, the Media and Democracy Group is inviting other organizations to submit proposals for cooperation. The group’s plan is to tap its network of trainers for programs that can help foster better, more reliable journalism in places where it is needed most.

According to a September 1 announcement from the group, its members are experienced journalists and trainers who have worked in dozens of countries around the world. Their expertise includes basic and advanced journalism skills, specialized reporting and media management. The group says its trainers can also help local journalists establish and plan radio stations, publications or Web sites.
