Junior Jagran to reach out to 20 more cities from today

In an attempt to entice more children to get into the habit of reading newspapers, leading Hindi daily Dainik Jagran will roll out the Junior Jagran, a weekly supplement, from 20 additional cities. Junior Jagran will be available in these cities along with the main edition starting today.

The newspaper is targeting school students to report for the supplement along with the Jagran editorial team. Sanjay Gupta, CEO, Dainik Jagran, said, "The objective is to encourage the reading habit among youngsters. Also, the supplement will help the children to be updated with what’s happening around them and develop ‘a nose for news.’" Gupta said it would act as a catalyst in nurturing good journalists.

Now, the supplement will be available in Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Uttranchal, Punjab and Jharkhand. It will reach Meerut, Agra, Bareilly, Moradabad, Aligarh, Ghaziabad, Gurgaon, Faridabad, Panipat, Sonipat, Ambala, Karnal, Yamunanagar, Kurushetra, Rohtak, Bhiwani, Hissar; Dehradun, Haldwani and Nainital. Previously, the supplement was available in Jalandhar, Ludhaina, Amritsar, Bhatinda, Patiala, Noida, Dhanbad, Ranchi and Jamshedpur. In all, it will be available in 29 cities on every Friday along with the main edition.

The supplement will be an eight page bilingual (Hindi and English) tabloid, out of which four pages will be written and edited by Junior Jagran National Bureau and rest four pages will be localised. On the reason for going bilingual, he said, "People are becoming bilingual by choice. We speak in Hindi for day-to-day living and English for the academic or professional need. Teenagers are exposed to both medium and Jagran’s efforts is to bridge the gap."
