Times Group to launch BBC auto magazine Top Gear soon

The Times of India Group is renewing its focus on magazines and is in the process of bringing various international titles to the country. One of the first to enter the market would be ‘Top Gear’ from the BBC stable. Gautam Sen is the editor of the magazine. Top Gear is expected to be published from India by the end of this month or early July.

On being contacted, Times officials neither confirmed nor denied the development but sources in the know disclosed that the organisation is in the process of bringing more such titles.

Top Gear is a motoring magazine and has a strong presence in the international market. Sen has wide exposure in automobile journalism because of his association with the Delhi-based ‘Auto Motor & Sport’ as its Editor.

It may be recalled that The Times Group last year formed a joint venture with BBC for running its magazine business. Its existing titles like Femina and Filmfare were transferred to this JV.
