NEW DELHI: Hindi News channel 'Aaj Tak' was today issued a notice by the Government in connection with one of its reports during the coverage of the Mumbai terror attack.
Sources in the ministry of information and broadcasting told PTIthat the report in question was aired on November 28, the third day of the siege of Mumbai by terrorists.
The sources refused to say whether any deadline was set for the channel to give its reply. A channel official confirmed that the notice has been received by the network and a reply is being prepared.
The channel claimed that it had retracted the particular report soon after airing it initially. Television channels are facing some flak for their coverage of the terror attacks as the ministry has sent them two written as well as one oral advisories over the issue since the last one week and asking them not to repeat gory scenes and project the country as a "demoralised" nation.
The industry body, News Broadcasters Association is yet to take a decision on how to go about dealing with the advisories.
