IFJ raises concerns over arrest of journalist amid media clampdown in Syria

The International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) has called on Syrian authorities to release journalist Mohamad Zaid Mastou , who was arrested on April 6 in Damascus by security agents and taken to an undisclosed location. Cameroonian reporter detained after questioning arrests

Using a vague criminal code provision allowing authorities to detain individuals deemed a threat to public order, a provincial governor in Cameroon threw a journalist in prison on Wednesday last for inquiring about the arrests of two employees of a state-run palm oil company, according to local journalists. Provincial police spokesman arrested in Iraq for criticising government as journalist

Journalists detained in Bahrain, Egypt

A CNN crew was detained Wednesday in Manama while interviewing a prominent Bahraini human rights defender, according to a Twitter posting by the network and a CPJ interview. Journalists continue to be harassed in different ways throughout Middle East

Uganda: Journalist detained for 48 hours after exposing wave of break-ins

Police in Buwama, Mpigi district (80 km south of Kampala), have arrested and detained Central Broadcasting Service (CBS FM) correspondent Yoweri Musisi over a story which alleged increased lawlessness in the area. Yemeni journalist Fouad Rashid has been arbitrarily arrested in Al-Mukalla, a city 500 km east of Sanaa that is the capital of Hadramaut provinceaccording to Paris-based press freedom group Reporters sans Frontières (RSF).
